Reliance Jio SIM Home Delivery: Everything You Need to Know
Highlights
  • The service has been kicked off as a pilot programme
  • It is currently only available in the largest cities in India
  • The pilot programme is based on an invite system

Following reports from September, Reliance Jio has officially launched a pilot programme for home delivery of SIM cards. Targeting the biggest cities in India, the Reliance Jio SIM home delivery service is aimed to help consumers get their hands on a Jio SIM card without going through the trouble of visiting a retail store. Wondering how to get Reliance Jio SIM home-delivered? We explain.

The pilot programme for Reliance Jio SIM home delivery is based on an invite system, contradictory to earlier reports that had tipped an online portal would be launched that would allow users to apply for and schedule Jio SIM card home delivery.

The Reliance Jio SIM card home delivery pilot programme is being rolled out in a phased manner. Currently in beta, the program is being rolled out area wise in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Visakhapatnam.

Under the Reliance Jio SIM card home delivery pilot programme, individuals will receive an invite to schedule a Jio SIM delivery at home. Notably, users cannot request an invite. Instead, Reliance Jio will send invites to "influencers" it has discovered. Reliance employees will not be able to refer people for the Jio SIM home delivery programme either, and only the team responsible can make selections.

The invite to the Reliance Jio SIM card home delivery pilot programme allows the individual to request for a SIM card to be delivered at their home at a time of their choice. Deliveries can be scheduled as soon as "within 30 minutes".

Separately, Reliance Jio is running a programme for housing societies and enterprises that makes it easier for consumers to procure Jio SIM cards. Housing society and enterprise officials can register their interest on the respective section of the site. If the application is selected, a Reliance Jio team will visit the housing complex or office to distribute SIM cards via a kiosk. Consumers hoping to avail the services from these kiosks will need a local Aadhaar card for 'instant eKYC-based activation'. To use services, they will need a 4G-enabled smartphone.
