A new report has claimed that Reliance Jio subscribers will be charged for calls after 1,000 minutes in a month. A Bloomberg Quint report citing CLSA claims that Reliance Jio will be charging its Jio subscribers for calls to other operators. It says that Reliance will be offering free calls to other Jio numbers post the 1,000 minutes.
A Reliance Jio spokesperson has clarified to Gadgets 360 that this isn't the case. The spokesperson said that the report is incorrect and added that the plans on its website mention "unlimited voice calls". The report has further claimed that Reliance Jio could cancel a customer's Jio Prime membership unless a minimum recharge of Rs. 149 is made every month.
Reliance Jio's free services are all set to end on March 31, which means that customers will finally have to start paying to use 4G data. The company earlier this month announced the new Reliance Jio Prime subscription service. The new Jio Prime service entails a one-time fee of Rs. 99, followed by monthly recharge packs to lower the cost of 4G data usage and other Reliance Jio services.
Existing Jio subscribers enrolled under Happy New Offer can avail the new Jio Prime plans either via heading to the MyJio app to subscribe to the Jio Prime service, or use the Jio.com website. You can also choose to visit any Jio store or Jio partner store near you to enrol for the plan. The company recently revealed wide variety of prepaid and postpaid options falling under the Jio Prime packs, and you can read it here.
