After leading operators Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea, smaller rival Aircel has also announced unlimited voice calling packs for its prepaid customers as it tries to match up to Reliance Jio's offerings.

The two new packs - RC14 and RC249 - announced on Wednesday, Aircel will offer its customers unlimited local and STD calling across all networks with a validity of one day and 28 days, respectively, Aircel said in a statement.

Also, customers with 4G handsets in circles like Assam and North East, West Bengal, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh East, Bihar and Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, will get an additional 1.5GB of 3G data.

"As we gradually move towards the New Year, we want to delight our customers with an exciting gamut of products that offer them benefits of unlimited calling and data. Both RC14 and RC249 are designed for a wide spectrum of users, who want to enjoy free calling and also stay connected online at an affordable cost," Aircel Chief Marketing Officer Anupam Vasudev said.

Last week, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular had launched similar offers for their customers to counter Reliance Jio's tariff with free voice calls to prepaid customers and additional data.

At present, Reliance Jio is offering free 4G mobile service including calls and data till end March. It is said to have clocked 52 million customers in 83 days of its launch.

These plans being offered by incumbents come close to proposed Rs. 149 plan of Jio, under which it will offer free calls to all network in the country for 28 days without any roaming charges. The plan includes 300MB 4G data access during day and unlimited usage at night.
