It's possible to buy a good 55-inch 4K LED TV such as the Mi TV 4X 55 for under Rs. 40,000 right now, so the idea of a television with similar specifications and features costing Rs. 1,29,900 might be a bit too much for many to stomach. You can even get decent QLED televisions from brands such as OnePlus and TCL for half as much, so what exactly is there to the Sony 55X9000H that justifies its rather high price?

Sony 55-inch 4K HDR LED Android TV (55X9000H) Summary

The Sony 55X9000H LED TV features local-array dimming, along with support for up to the Dolby Vision HDR standard. This 4K TV is priced at Rs. 1,29,900, making it significantly more expensive than entry-level 4K smart TVs, and even fairly more expensive than QLED TVs from brands such as OnePlus and TCL. However, Sony's brand value and excellent performance do to a strong extent make up for the price, and the Sony 55X9000H is among the best LED TVs you can buy.

Thanks to full-array local dimming, excellent performance across resolutions, the full-fledged Android TV user interface, support for all major apps, and more, the X9000H is an excellent mid-premium TV. Sound quality is a bit ordinary, and there are slight issues with motion, but the Sony more than makes up for this with brightness, colours, sharpness, black levels, and general performance. It's expensive, but this is among the best LED TVs you can buy today.

Delivery expected as usual. Will be testing other features and updating the review later.Edit: After calibrating the TV, I can safely say that there are no issues in the TV for now. Tip: Use Local dimming to high to ensure that there is minimal to low blooming in dark scenes and put motionflow to custom on 0 on both. Custom video setting works the most in calibrating the settings on all apps with Netlix Dolby vision shows on either Dolby vision bright or dark depending on your room lighting environment. If using a gaming console, change it to game mode to have minimum input lag.

If you love gaming and watching movies. This is the tv you got to have. With the dolby vision support which has customisable Dolby hdr settings, game mode has the least amount of lag or latency while playing on your PS4.The sound output is also great and loud, but could have been louder at this price range. Now the wait starts for the HDMI 2.1 update, which will turn the 2 HDMI inputs from 2.0 to 2.1. This update has already been rolled out in US/Uk. Guess India lags behind, but hoping we will get it soon. For best picture settings, to get those deep blacks and perfect color, you can refer to "CO Guy Stuff" x900h settings youtube video. I have used the same, and it's simply the best settings to watch movies on.

  • I literally took almost a year to find a TV that ticks all boxes - and it was worth it
Rohan Chowdhury (Oct 22, 2020) on Amazon
Pro -1) Local dimming works really good. I don't think this TV has too many zones, but it does a great job. Keep the picture setting for this to max for best results. I'm surprised how close this panel goes to OLED - not kidding.2) Picture post processing including upscaling - again another surprising element. Use post processing like saturation control, darkness control etc as per YOUR TASTE. DON'T turn them off because some random dude in YouTube advised to. These implementations are really good, but you need to go manual to make them work right. Start with custom settings and tweak each of them in SDR and HDR "SEPARATELY". I had tough time differentiating well produced FHD videos in YouTube from 4K HDR !! That fake HDR works real well in this TV, take risk - go manual !3) Sound stage created by TV speakers are really good. They have zero bass, but they create really nice surround effect.4) Android TV !! That should be sufficient to explain. I have a Jio gigafiber set top box with streaming subscriptions, once I got this TV, logged in to all of them from the TV apps and instant win in picture quality and responsiveness.5) Powerful chip, your android experience will be similar to a mid-spec android phone - which is really good for today's phone standards ;)6) The remote is actually nice, its long, but easy to hold because of being thin. Buttons are well placed and responsive and its a bluetooth remote so no need for line of sight.7) Build quality is very good, but the TV wobbles a bit if you try to make it, because of it's massive size. Maybe if the stands went through higher, would've mitigated that, but no one will keep a 55" TV in the middle of walk way, use a wall mount if you are concerned.8) Sony customer support started immediately from next day of purchase. From installation, to warranty to technical support everything was really fast and efficient.Cons -1) I have hard time understanding whey they did Sony remove subwoofer addition through headphone jack from these models all of a sudden ! Specially after making the TV speakers sound so good. Why invest on making TV speakers if its ultimately unpractical and customers are forced to buy a separate home theatre system !! Something that could've been done cheap enough with a great Subwoofer is now forced to compensate with a full fledged system. I paid that money to Samsung - so you lost that game Sony !!Conclusion : This is the best TV if you have an open budget but you value your hard work to earn the money. The price to quality in this TV is the best in Indian market now, period. While OLED gives unparalleled best picture quality, it has longevity problems. And QLED is more gimmick than actual stuff. This is a VA panel, unlike IPS panels this gives superior picture quality. And I don't know who really watches TV from a weird angle, specially after getting such a large one if viewing angle matters to you.The brightness of this TV is more for a dark room, which we have. If you live in a room which is lit like a freaking balcony then better go for X9500H, which is brighter but you don't get HDMI 2.1 or VRR.
