Wipro has won a transformational IT applications and infrastructure contract from 7-Eleven, a leading convenience store chain in Australia.

This would lead to an organisation-wide retail process re-engineering at 7-Eleven to help launch new merchandise categories, improve the efficiency of existing ones, initiate real-time targeted promotions and easily introduce new processes during mergers and acquisitions, Wipro said.

The integrated engagement includes the upgrade, migration and consolidation of 7-Eleven's IT applications and infrastructure, which will help improve speed and agility of its go-to-market initiatives, the company said in a statement.

The project will improve business functionality at 7-Eleven through the deployment of a consolidated, real-time transactional and reporting infrastructure, it said.

Powered by the cutting-edge SAP HANA platform, it will also set the foundation for predictive customer analytics, to forecast and manage the retailer's future business requirements, the statement said.

Wipro, present in Australia since 2001, has over 1,200 employees there, servicing its clients in sectors including banking, insurance, utilities, government and retail.

Earlier this month, Wipro entered into a partnership with enterprise application software major SAP to deliver managed mobility services to customers at lower costs.

"Our new services will help customers improve their business, increase agility and reduce costs, as our partnership will bring domain expertise and systems integration experience together with SAP's mobile solutions," the global software major had then said in a statement. Wipro's cloud-based, managed mobility services will span SAP solutions, including SAP mobile platform, SAP work manager mobile application and SAP mobile secure solution for mobile device and application management.
