In our weekly column Personally Tech we talk to people from all walks of life to learn about the apps and gadgets that they love and can't live without. Technology has changed the way we all live and work, in myriad ways.
We spoke to Raman Narula, the managing director of Formula Group, about the apps and gadgets that he loves using. Formula Group is a relocation company that helps others to move around the world. This means that the company works across relocation, fleet management, travel, housing and even cultural training, so that businesses can easily relocate people to foreign locations.
Narula, who was previously the India-head of the travel company Club Med, says he is a keen golfer, but he's also a gadget enthusiast. He talked to us about the apps and gadgets that he loves, and can't live without.
1. Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use?
Raman Narula: I'm using a MacBook Air, the iPhone 6, and an iPad Air. I'm not only an Apple fan though - I also use a Canon EOS 700D and a Sony PlayStation 4 to relax and have fun.
2. What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without?
Raman Narula: There are no specific apps, but I know I can't live without my phone, tablet and computer all. The one app that I have in all three is the Kindle app. I also watch all my movies on my iPad, from the iTunes Store.
3. What is the one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without?
Raman Narula: My iPad, for sure.
4. What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Raman Narula: I have just shifted our entire office environment to Google Drive and it is a dream platform. Because you have access to all your documents in all your gadgets. You can have multiple people work on a sheet simultaneously and everyone can see which row or column are the others filling in and read the content real time... It is amazing, it's like a dream.
5. How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Raman Narula: The Google platform has changed the way we work currently in office. It syncs everything we do from anywhere and allows control on who can view or edit your document and provides a history to every edition done to any document, enables you to work with multiple people at remote locations on the same sheet. It's a real game changer and has made work much simpler, and more efficient.
