Seven Reasons to Buy the InFocus Epic 1

Seven Reasons to Buy the InFocus Epic 1

The smartphone wars are hotter than ever before, which can only be a good thing for the consumers, as manufacturers try to give you the most for your money. In this ring enters the InFocus EPIC 1, that aims to win consumers in the following 7 ways:

1) Powerful 10 core processor with Tri-Cluster architecture
InFocus’ EPIC 1 features a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core chip. The Tri-Cluster architecture aims to intelligently provide the phone with power when needed, and save battery life when possible. The 10 cores are divided into three clusters with clock speeds ranging between 2.1GHz, 1.85GHz and 1.4GHz. The low end cluster is assigned to achieve low-end tasks like send text messages or using the calculator, while the faster clusters are powered down. But as you execute intensive applications, the rest of the clusters will spring into action. But unlike the typical arrangement of combining low power and high power cores, this three step arrangement maximises efficiency, much like gears in a vehicle.

2) 8 MP front camera with large f/1.8 aperture, wide angle lens and adaptive de-noise technology
Keeping pace with current trends where many are taking more pictures from the front camera than the rear, the InFocus EPIC 1 comes loaded with an 8 megapixel lens at the front with an f/1.8 aperture. The larger aperture allows more light to be captured as you press the shutter button. This, along with the adaptive de-noise technology results in sharper, less grainy images in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. It is also a wide-angle lens, so you can capture selfies of a big group of people easily.

3) 16 MP PDAF primary camera with with Auto Image stabilization (AIS), Object Tracking, Dynamic Auto Focus, Dual Tone Flash, Slow Motion Video recording
The rear camera is a 16 megapixel sensor with Phase-Detection autofocus (PDAF), which allows for faster focusing of a moving subject, so you don’t end up with blurry shots. The camera also features object tracking, which when enabled, keeps a subject in focus even as the subject moves within the frame. So say you’re capturing a video of a person breakdancing, object tracking will not require you to keep manually adjusting the focus. The Dual Tone LED Flash at the back tries to maintain the original skin complexion of the person being photographed. The rear camera is also capable of capturing video in slow motion to produce artistic results.

4) Full HD LTPS display which uses content upscaling algorithm
The 5.5-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) belts out a high pixel density of 401 PPI (Pixels Per Inch). A content upscaling algorithm will enhance low-resolution content, making it appear better on the high-resolution screen. The screen features a 120Hz frequency, refreshing adequately fast that there’s no ghosting exhibited as you’re seeing fast-moving content (like quickly scrolling through a web page). The screen is also designed to respond quickly to your taps and presses, to avoid a lag in operation.

5) Gamers Delight with Mali T880 MP4 GPU, 10-core processor, 3GB RAM
The Mali T880 GPU is able to achieve a smooth framerate in popular games, even after cranking the settings to high. This GPU is of the same pedigree as the ones used in Android phones that are a lot more expensive. That, coupled with the 10-core processor and a fairly ample 3GB of RAM, will result in an enjoyable gaming experience.

6) Most premium design with Brushed Metal finish and curved back
The brushed all metal finish feels good to hold, exuding a premium stature. This is done to ensure that the phone doesn’t feel cheap, even though the price certainly suggests that it is. Curves at the back aid in better gripability of the phone.

7) Fast fingerprint sensor and Type C connector for easy charging
The InFocus EPIC 1 comes with a 360-degree fingerprint recognition system, that can unlock the phone in less than one second. The USB Type C port allows for ease of use thanks to its reversible design, allowing you to plug in the cable in any direction.
