Microsoft has asserted that it is committed to the Windows 10 Mobile platform and is currently working on the next-generation products. The company's stance was revealed by Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices Group Terry Myerson in an email to several people including Microsoft executives and partners.

The email from Myerson hints that Microsoft wants to put aside any uncertainty about its upcoming range of products powered by Windows 10 Mobile. The email from Myerson touched upon the company's strategy towards the platform. Windows Central posted excerpts of the email from Myerson and claimed that it was cross-checked via multiple sources. The email said, "I understand that you are hearing concerns from certain partners about Microsoft's commitment to the mobile space. Let me be very clear: We are committed to deliver Windows 10 on mobile devices with small screen running ARM processors."

He affirmed that Microsoft will keep supporting the Windows 10 Mobile for "many years" hinting that the company isn't planning to leave the smartphone segment any time soon. One of the reasons behind Microsoft delaying the launch of the more Windows 10 Mobile powered devices, such as the long rumoured Surface phone, is said to be due ongoing development of the platform.

"We are currently in development of our next generation products and I wanted to reconfirm our commitment to Windows 10 Mobile. We believe in this product's value to business customers and it is our intention to support the Windows 10 Mobile platform for many years. We have a device roadmap to support that from Microsoft as well as our OEM partners who will also be selling an expanded lineup of phone devices based on this platform," read the email.

Microsoft has long been rumoured to be working on a Surface phone, which is said to be unveiled only in "early 2017." An earlier report claimed some of the early Microsoft plans that the company may unveil three models targeted at regular consumers, business-specific, and enthusiasts. The three Surface phones are also rumoured to be priced in different price tiers and markets.
