Micromax Set to Launch Next 'Canvas Flagship' Smartphone on Wednesday

Micromax is all set to launch its next Canvas flagship smartphone in India. The company is holding a product launch event on Wednesday in New Delhi, and has sent invitations for the event.

The firm has not yet mentioned which device it would launch at the event but has clearly stated "New Canvas Flagship" in the invite. The company is however expected to launch the Micromax Canvas 5, the successor to the Micromax Canvas 4 launched back in 2013. The invitation additionally states "Pride, Performance and Power will now have a new definition," and shows a silhouetted profile of a handset.

Micromax expanded its Canvas smartphone lineup last month with the launch of Canvas Blaze 4G, Canvas Fire 4G, and Canvas Play 4G. It also brought Canvas Spark 2, Canvas Juice 3, and Canvas Juice 3+ to Indian shores. To reach customers with a smaller budget, it launched the Bolt S302, Bolt Q331, and Bolt Q338 smartphones last month, priced at Rs. 3,199, Rs. 4,999, and Rs. 6,499, respectively.

To keep its sales numbers growing in India, Micromax has been launching budget products in the recent past. It also launched the Canvas Lapbook L1161 and the Canvas Laptab LT777 tablet this month priced at Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 17,999 respectively. Both the Windows 10-based devices feature almost the same specifications except that the Micromax Canvas Lapbook L1161 comes with a non-detachable keyboard, lower battery capacity of 5000mAh, and a lower HD display resolution as compared to Canvas Laptab LT777.
