Lenovo has launched 2 new smartphones at IFA 2014, the Vibe Z2 and Vibe X2. Both the Lenovo Vibe Z2, priced at $429 (Rs. 26,000 approximately) and Lenovo Vibe X2, priced at $399 (Rs. 24,000 approximately), will be available in China starting October, and will be released in Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe and the Middle East in countries where Lenovo smartphones are currently sold.

The company is touting the Lenovo Vibe Z2 as a 'selfie-phone' and the handset is also its first 64-bit powered smartphone. Meanwhile, the Lenovo Vibe X2 is being billed by Lenovo as the 'world's first layered smartphone' and the handset sports a tri-layered design. The Vibe X2 will be available in Dark Grey, Gold, Red, and White.

The Vibe Z2 is 7.8 mm thin, while features a 5.5-inch (720x1280 pixels) HD display that is powered by extra-bright 600nit rating. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat and supports dual-SIM.

Lenovo has packed in a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz alongside 2GB of RAM. The company notes that the new 64-bit architecture "will be able to take advantage of Google's future versions of Android that supports high-performance 64-bit computing," implying Android L of course. It includes 32GB of built-in storage.

The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with BSI sensor, OIS, and LED flash. It also packs an 8-megapixel front fixed focus camera, which the company touts as the highlight of the device. The Lenovo Vibe Z2 will be available in White, Titanium, and Gold colours, measures 148.5x76.4x7.8mm and weighs 158 grams. Other specifications include 3000mAh battery; 4G LTE; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac; Bluetooth, and Micro-USB.

The Lenovo Vibe X2, on the other hand, is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6595m processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM, and includes 32GB of inbuilt storage.

Notably, the Lenovo Vibe X2 will be available in two variants - dual-SIM that will be available in Asia-Pacific region, and single SIM for other countries. It features a 5-inch (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with Vibe UI 2.0.

Other specifications include a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera; 2300mAh battery; 4G LTE; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac; Bluetooth, and Micro-USB. It measures 140.2x68.6x7.27mm and weighs 120 grams.

In addition to the smartphones, Lenovo has also introduced click-on accessories called Vibe Xtensions for Vibe X2 that include Vibe X2 Battery and Vibe X2 speaker.

Commenting on the launch, Colin Giles, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Mobile Business Group, Lenovo said, "The Vibe X2 offers consumers a smartphone that's as unique as they are, starting with its three layer colour gradient design that looks as beautiful as it feels in the hand."
