After recent tie-ups with Samsung, Celkon, and Intex, Airtel on Friday took its 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative a step ahead by partnering with China's Transsion Group-owned Itel Mobile. The latest partnership brings the Itel A40 and Itel A41 at effective prices of Rs. 3,099 and Rs. 3,199, respectively. Airtel has also bundled a monthly recharge pack of Rs. 169.

Under the Airtel offer, a cashback benefit worth Rs. 1,500 will be given on the purchase of the Itel A40 and Itel A41 that results in the effective prices. Airtel subscribers need to recharge their accounts with a total of Rs. 3,000 in the first 18 months to receive the first cashback instalment worth Rs. 500. Over the next 18 months, the subscribers will be required to complete another set of recharges worth Rs. 3,000 to receive the remaining Rs. 1,000. The Itel A40 is originally available with a market price of Rs. 4,599, while the Itel A41 is priced at Rs. 4,699.

"We are delighted to partner Itel as we expand our range of affordable 4G smartphones with an aim to enable every Indian to own a 4G smartphone and be a part of the digital revolution," said Ajai Puri, COO, Bharti Airtel, in a press statement. Puri adds that with the latest partnership, Airtel has gained with the "largest partner ecosystem of device manufacturers" in the country.

The Android 7.0 Nougat-based Itel A40 features a 5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) display and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone has a 5-megapixel rear camera sensor with autofocus lens and an LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front camera sensor with a selfie flash. It comes with 8GB onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card slot (up to 32GB). Further, the smartphone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ A-GPS on the connectivity front and packs a 2400mAh battery.

The Itel A41, on the other hand, was launched as the Itel Wish A41 in March last year with identical specifications of the Itel A40 - albeit with different colour options. The Itel A40 comes in Black, Rose Gold, and Dark Blue colours, while the Itel A41 is available in Champagne, Calx, and Rose Gold options.

Itel Mobile is offering its native after-sales support. Also, there is a service proposition of 100 days replacement warranty.

Airtel is not the only telecom operator that has picked Itel Mobile for its budget smartphone programme. Last month, Vodafone also announced its partnership with the Chinese company to launch the Itel A20 in the country with an effective price of Rs. 1,590.

Earlier this week, Airtel tied-up with Samsung to offer a cashback worth Rs. 1,500 on select Samsung 4G smartphones. The list of models eligible for the cashback includes the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017), Galaxy J5 Prime, Galaxy J7 Prime, and Galaxy J7 Pro. Moreover, the cashback offer will begin starting January 7.
