Nokia 8 Sirocco Edition was launched at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona on Sunday. This special edition variant of the Nokia 8 is Nokia licensee brand HMD Global's most expensive smartphone till date. As the company's most premium smartphone, Nokia 8 Sirocco brings a premium design with a curved glass finish and a precision-crafted stainless steel frame. The smartphone runs Android One out-of-the-box. Here's a look at what all is different in the Nokia 8 Sirocco when compared to previously launched Nokia 8.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco price has been set at EUR 749 (roughly Rs. 59,800), which is what HMD Global is calling the phone's global average retail price. Pricing and availability for the Indian market has not been revealed yet. The smartphone will hit shelves in select markets in April 2018 in a Black colour variant.
The Nokia 8 price in India is Rs. 28,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage variant. It is available in India across Amazon India and offline retailers.
Nokia 8 Sirocco vs Nokia 8 design
Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a new design that consists of 95 percent Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and a precision-crafted stainless steel frame running on the sides. On the other hand, the Nokia 8 has a aluminium back panel. Talking about the display, the Nokia 8 Sirocco sports a 5.5-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) pOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia 8 has a smaller 5.3-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) LCD display with substantial bezels on top and bottom.
Apart from that, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is slightly thinner at 7.5mm compared to the 7.9mm frame on the Nokia 8. Thanks to the thin form factor, the Nokia 8 Sirocco ditches a 3.5mm headphone jack, present earlier on the Nokia 8. There is also no physical home button on the Sirocco edition forcing the fingerprint sensor to be shifted to the back, below the rear camera.
Nokia 8 Sirocco vs Nokia 8 camera
Both phones come with a dual camera setup on the back, but the Nokia 8 Sirocco has improved 13-megapixel and 12-megapixel sensors compared to the two 13-megapixel sensors on the Nokia 8. The front camera has a 5-megapixel sensor on the Nokia 8 Sirocco compared to a 13-megapixel RGB sensor on the Nokia 8.
Not much has changed in terms of internal specifications, the Nokia 8 Sirocco only has a 6GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage variant while the Nokia 8 also has a 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant. A 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant of the Nokia 8 was unveiled in October last year, but has yet to make its way to India. Nokia 8 Sirocco runs Android One, while the Nokia 8 runs a near-stock version of Android Oreo. The battery also sees an upgrade: Nokia 8 Sirocco has a bigger 3260mAh unit, compared to the 3090mAh one on Nokia 8.
