I like how Lava keeps launching new phones every other week unlike many other manufacturers who launch a couple of phones a year. Appreciate their dedication to continuously update and improve their phones. The new Lava Iris Alfa looks like a very promising phone. The specs are very nice for the price and even the design is awesome!

  • Where is basic 'phone' fearure

Few days back I dropped my nexus 4 and broke its screen. While I am waiting for a new high end phone to be released, I needed a new phone with low budget but with good features. Someone recommended Lava Iris alpha for its good 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. he said the phone doesn't hang because of good processor with good memory and looks nice too. When I checked most of the phones in the same price range have only 512 MB of RAM, so decided to buy this one. After on a day I got android update too on it so I was happy. But just in 2-3 days I started noticing that the basic features expected from a phone (calling) is not at all impressive. First of all the in-call volume is way too low. I can barely listen to the other side. I tried using it with an ear phone, the volume was manageable then, but the mic didn't work. :( I am working with US clients and mostly have calls in the evening. With my Nexus I used to take these calls while traveling back home or from home. Now I have to stay back in office for the calls so I can take it from office phone as I am not able to hear a word on Lava while travelling. Other than that, the touch and other features are ok for which I am giving 2 starts.
