Asus has launched three models of its Chromebox CN60 in India, with prices starting at Rs. 21,000. The compact devices run Google's ChromeOS and can used with any monitor or TV. Asus touts the devices' size, portability and versatility compared to regular PCs.

The Asus Chromebox is available with either an Intel Celeron, Core i3 or Core i7 processor. The Core-based models can play 4K video, and the i7 model can be used in office environments to handle videoconferences with up to 20 participants. All three models come with Google's suite of apps and services, and will receive constant automatic updates.

ChromeOS is also said to come with integrated virus protection and boots up in seconds. Buyers get 100GB of Google Drive space for two years, and can sync their files, browser sessions and passwords across ChromeOS and the Chrome browser on Android, Windows, iOS and OS X.

The CN60 measures 124x124x42mm and comes with a VESA bracket so it can be mounted on the back of most monitors and TVs, where they can stay out of sight. All three models come with a three-year warranty and will be available at 40 exclusive Asus outlets in the initial launch period.

All three models come with Wi-Fi b/g/n support, Bluetooth 4.0, four USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, HDMI, DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5mm headset port. Asus has also fitted them with 16GB NGFF SSDs for local storage.

The Chromebox CN60 uses low-power fourth-generation Haswell CPUs with integrated Intel HD graphics. The most affordable model is based on an Intel Celeron 2955U and has 2GB of RAM. It costs Rs. 21,000. The next in the series is based on a Core i3-4010U processor and has 4GB of RAM. It will cost Rs. 36,500. The highest-end model is powered by a Core i7-4600U processor and 4GB of RAM, and will sell for Rs. 58,000. A monitor is not included with any of the models.

Asus offers optional wired or wireless keyboard and mouse packages. The Core i7 model is suitable for businesses. The optional accessories kit for meetings includes an HD webcam, remote control and microphone/speaker unit.

The Asus Chromebox first debuted in February when it was launched in the US at $179 (approximately Rs. 11,000).
