Flipkart and Amazon sales are all set to kick off next week, ushering in the e-commerce discounts for the festive season. Both Flipkart and Amazon are busy promoting their upcoming sales, both online and offline. These sales promise great deals on hundreds of products. No wonder a lot of consumers wait for the festive season Amazon and Flipkart sales to grab great deals on electronics, large appliances, and other favourite products. After all these years, we have some idea of what to expect from Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale and Amazon's Great Indian Festival sale this year. The limited-period sales are so huge, it becomes quite a task to track good deals and find products you're looking to buy. But if you prepare yourself well, you can save a lot of money and buy your favourite gadgets without worrying about anything.

We've put together a simple guide to help you prepare for Flipkart and Amazon's upcoming festive season sales.

1. Make a list
First things first, it's always better to plan ahead. You should do your homework beforehand so that you don't waste precious time during the sale. Do your research and make a list of products you're looking to buy during the sale. This will help you decide what you need and which online marketplace you need to visit during the sale. In the days leading up to the sale, both Flipkart and Amazon will reveal, or at least tease, some of their biggest deals. Keeping an eye out for these can help you make a buying decision before the sale. Once you've got your list ready, add those products to your wishlist on Flipkart or Amazon.

2. Join Flipkart Plus, Amazon Prime
Joining a loyalty program like Flipkart Plus or Amazon Prime can help you enjoy a number of free benefits. Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale will open up at 9 PM on October 9 exclusively for Flipkart Plus members while Amazon's Great Indian Festival sale will kick off from 12 PM on October 9 for Amazon Prime subscribers. An early access to the sale ensures you have better chances of grabbing some great deals. That’s not all. These programs also come with a number of other benefits that can be useful if you do a lot of your shopping online. While Flipkart Plus is free to join, Amazon Prime costs Rs. 999 per month. Although telecom operators offer Prime membership for free to select customers.

3. Checkout like a pro
Keep your personal information like your shipping address and payment information saved in your accounts for a faster checkout process. This makes it easier and quicker to grab deals and offers in flash sales. You can also consider saving your payment information in your account to keep the checkout process smoother. In case you want to take things to the next level, add balance to your Amazon Pay or PhonePe wallets so that you don't even have to worry about OTPs (one-time password) while making a payment in the Amazon and Flipkart sales, respectively. Online marketplaces usually offer a cashback in case you add money in your wallet before a sale. Do keep in mind that some online marketplaces disable cash-on-delivery methods during festive season sales to prevent misuse. Make sure you make your plans accordingly.

4. Pay using the right payment options
Both Flipkart and Amazon are offering a wide range of payment options this year. Pick one that helps you save money and makes things convenient for you. From no-cost EMI options to an instant credit worth up to ₹60,000, online marketplaces don't want to leave any stone unturned to keep you from purchasing high-value goods online. Flipkart has tied up with MasterCard and HDFC Bank to offer discounts on card-based transactions while Amazon has joined hands with State Bank of India. Apart from specific cards, both Flipkart and Amazon will be offering cashback to PhonePe and Amazon Pay users respectively.

5. Download the Amazon, Flipkart apps on your phone
While desktop websites are easier to use during festive season sales, you should still keep mobile apps for Flipkart and Amazon installed on your smartphone. Since next week's festive season sales kick off on a weekday, you may be busy with other things or not have access to e-commerce websites at work. Make sure you're signed in to your account and have your wishlist ready. This will make it simpler to access products your keen on purchasing.

6. Stick to the budget
It’s easy to get carried away during such festive season sales. Once you’ve made a list and you stick with it, it’ll be easier to stay within your spending cap. Decide what you want for yourself or your friends and family and buy only when you spot a great deal. Impulse purchases can damage your spending budget quite easily. Don’t hop around online marketplaces while browsing aimlessly during the sale. This can result in large credit card bills at the end of the month, something you don’t need.

We’ll be covering the best deals from both Flipkart and Amazon sale, so make sure you visit Gadgets 360 when the sales go live.
