While we're yet to hear about the status of the console and PC editions of the next instalment in the Need For Speed series, work on the next entry in the series on mobile, entitled Need For Speed No Limits is going along swimmingly if the latest gameplay teaser is to be believed.

Developed by Firemonkeys, the studio behind Real Racing 3, Need For Speed No Limits features fast and frantic arcade action gameplay that looks almost console-like with cars zipping across urban environments reminiscent of the Need For Speed: Underground games and sporting car customisation options galore. It looks fluid, appears to have a steady frame-rate and might actually be fun to play.

The series has been on hiatus on mobile devices with the last entry being 2012's Need For Speed: Most Wanted. In the meantime, we've been treated to a slew of racing games on mobile such as Asphalt 8: Airborne, CSR Classics, and GT Racing 2.

How publisher Electronic Arts (EA) approaches the market with its latest effort in the Need For Speed series will be of interest. When Need For Speed: Most Wanted hit Android and iOS in 2012, it featured a Rs. 300 price point and in-app purchases as well. Whether the company decides to stick with a premium price point and in-app purchases in a marketplace that's seeing an increasing number of games going free with micro-transactions remains to be seen.

Nonetheless, Need For Speed No Limits is looking extremely competent. While no release date has been announced yet, we should see it sometime soon. Check out the gameplay teaser below.
