Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise has become synonymous with the survival horror genre owing to its (prolific) contribution, with the first title releasing over two decades ago. Tuesday’s worldwide release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the 27th entry in the series and the first primary entry to adopt the first-person view, continues that tradition.
If you’re looking to pick up the game at launch, here’s what you should know.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard spoilers
The game leaked last week in some parts of the world, and naturally, people couldn’t resist discussing it at length. We aren’t going to spoil it here, but if you’re interested in knowing story details of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, you can head over to Reddit threads that provide a lengthy synopsis, and pictures from the game’s ending. If you wish to avoid spoilers, we would advise to not click on those links.
RE7: Biohazard isn’t the only Resident Evil thing releasing this week. The franchise has spawned a world beyond the games too, most notably with a film series involving Milla Jovovich at its centre. And even though critics haven’t favoured a single chapter, Resident Evil stands as the highest earner in the video game adaptations market. Incidentally, it’s coming to a close this week with the release of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, in cinemas worldwide on January 27.
