It seemed for a long time as though this day might never come, but we're finally able to write about BlackBerry's recovery. After years of battling irrelevance, making bad decisions and watching its market evaporate, the company seems to have found a stable path. It has pivoted from being primarily a handset maker to a provider of services for all platforms, and the strategy seems to be working. In terms of hardware BlackBerry has narrowed its focus to business users and the enterprise, and is committed to staying out of the sub-Rs. 10,000 consumer market which it clearly cannot compete in. Each product it now releases is crafted for a specific audience and delivers exactly what is demanded of it - the innovative BlackBerry Passport (Review | Pictures) is for those who demand top-notch quality and want to stand out; the BlackBerry Classic (Review | Pictures) is for QWERTY loyalists who could never let go, and now the BlackBerry Leap is for touchscreen natives who feel that there might be something better out there than the current status quo.

BlackBerry Leap Summary

BlackBerry is back with its first new mainstream all-touch device since the original Z10. With a new focus on business power users, the company hopes to find a niche in which to be relevant again. The BlackBerry Leap looks and feels solid and could easily become an indispensable business tool, but it’s far too expensive for the mainstream, and lags behind competitors in terms of raw performance. We definitely do not suggest that it is an alternative to current mid-range Android phones, and it’s far outclassed by models such as the OnePlus One at this price level. With a decent camera and decent battery life, this could be a great secondary phone for those who need a workhorse.

  • A Good Productive & Secure Phone
Faizi (Sep 9, 2019) on Amazon
BB Leap is a good phone, with good battery life and hd ready display, the camera quality is around average, could have been better, its a sturdy phone with textured rear design, that gives a very good grip over the phones.Blackberry is the only company that make phones which don?t really need a back cover or a tempered glass, their glass quality is beyond par, it wont get scratches at all, their phones have been like this since long back. The BB OS 10 works fluidly and is stable, BB phones are purely for productivity purpose and are very secure and gives immense privacy to its users, Leap is no different. Its a good purchase for me. An all screen BB OS is a good experience!

  • Viva Blackberry!
Amazon Customer (Jun 29, 2018) on Amazon
I've been using this phone for a week now, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on any features that new phones have. I've always loved Blackberry because of the security aspect, but I'm also able to use all my social media apps through sideloading. The battery life is great, and easily gets me through a day with around 60% charge left by the time I get home from work. Thankfully, you can get by with using Uber through the browser with basic features. I've also sideloaded Whatsapp and used a fixer to make it work on the phone. If you're willing to put in some extra work by reading and watching tutorials to make this phone for you, I highly recommend it. Bought this for around 6,000 and it's possibly the best phone I've ever purchased.
