Waze, the real-time mapping, traffic and navigation app has landed on Windows Phone platform. The Waze app is now available on Windows Phone store for free and is 27MB in size.

The Waze Windows Phone app offers community generated real-time traffic and road details. The app also brings community contributed information about road alerts including accidents, road closures and more.

Much like Android, BlackBerry, and iOS clients, the Waze Windows Phone client includes an option to notify others about your location by sending a live ETA (estimated time of arrival) and a link showing your current location on the go. Other features in the Waze Windows Phone app include automatic re-routing as conditions on the road change; prompting frequent destinations with commuting hours and favoured routes.

Waze uses satellite signals from its community members' devices to generate maps and traffic data, which is then updated with other users, offering real-time traffic details. Waze claims that its community is 60 million strong.

In June this year, Google bought Waze which was an Israeli mapping startup. Later, the search engine giant announced Waze traffic data integration into its online maps features.

The Google-owned Waze app arrived on the Windows Phone store with the popular online photo and video sharing social service, Instagram, after weeks of speculations. However, unlike Waze traffic app, Instagram has been launched in beta and has been stripped of features like the ability to upload videos.
