Super Mario Run may not have earned as much revenue as Nintendo would have liked but that hasn’t stopped the company from supporting the game with frequent updates. According to a post on the App Store, some new additions are on the way, and they appear to be rather substantial. Here’s what you need to know when the Super Mario Run update hits on September 29 for Android and iOS.
Super Mario Run Remix 10 is a new mode that lets you play a set of 10 super short sections from Super Mario Run’s existing levels in quick succession. Each attempt throws up new layouts and challenges with rainbow-hued medals to collect. There’s no Game Over screen, which is an interesting twist to the proceedings, allowing players to proceed to the next one and familiarise themselves with the levels. This is crucial because finishing stages in Remix 10 nets you new items and rescue Princess Daisy who joins the game as a playable character.
Rescuing Princess Daisy in Super Mario Run Remix 10 mode unlocks her as a playable character in all of Super Mario Run’s game modes. Her special ability is a double jump. This gives players new ways to finish levels and collect hard to find coins or simply defeat others in Toad Rally.
If this wasn’t enough, Nintendo is also adding a new world to check out. Called World Star, it has nine levels and is unlocked when you finish all the stages of Worlds one through six.
Finally, this update will also allow you to play your own music while playing the game. Doing so reflects in-game what with Mario and friends wearing headphones.
To celebrate all these additions to the game, Super Mario Run will be 50 percent off for two weeks starting September 29 - the same time this update will be available for download. What this means is, you will be able to get all of Super Mario Run’s worlds and features for Rs. 400 ($5 in the US) instead of the usual Rs. 800 ($10 in the US).
