Google's popular digital wallet app, Google Wallet, is being updated for Android and iOS with a host of new features.

Google clearly notes that the new Google Wallet app is being rolled out this week, initially only for the US market.

Google is adding a new section dubbed 'Orders', which tracks online orders with regular notifications about the status of the order, and help managing previous orders.

The Google Wallet app allows users to earn store loyalty cards from some merchants, and scan coupons offering discounts. The app also offers users to send money and make online purchases via mobile websites by storing a debit or credit card account on the app.

Google announced the new update via Google Wallet's Google+ page and said, "Today we're excited to announce a new feature, Orders, in the latest version of the Google Wallet app, rolling out this week on Android [v 4.0+, US only] and iOS [v 6.0+, US only]. With Orders, you can automatically track your online orders, receive notifications about status updates, and track all your past orders, all in one place. Download or update the app soon, and get started using Orders."

Notably, the Google Wallet app uses location to show nearby offers and is compatible with Android 4.0.1 or later.

For those unaware, Google released the Google Wallet app for Apple iOS platform in September 2013.

A report on Wednesday revealed that Google, on the Android Open Source Project forum, had marked 'performance boosting thing' for a future release. Android users who get upset by the slow performance of their devices might be relieved once the next iteration of the operating system releases, as it is to bring a 'performance boosting thing'.
