In an effort to make users interact more on its platform, Facebook has introduced a new feature that is a message regarding an event or a moment happening around them. Vying with Google's Doodle, Facebook will show a message and related actions in a card at the top of your News Feed. This will help users talk more about the event and engage with others about what's happening around them primarily, and the holidays. Starting Tuesday, Facebook users can also send holiday greetings to their Facebook friends.

In a blog post, Facebook has detailed its goal to drive its user base to interact more on its platform. They include giving people more ways to connect during a festive season or a holiday, helping people find different cultural activities occurring around them, and celebrating historic moments in the world, such as the rare appearance of the Super Moon in November this year. Clicking on the themed message will take you to a news report or an information graph about the particular event or holiday. You can also share the messages with your friends on Facebook.

In addition to that, Facebook will start showing holiday cards that they can send to your friends during a festival or a holiday. With Christmas just around the corner, Facebook is showing some 18 customised greeting cards that include different designs. For some reason, if you aren't impressed by the greeting cards or the themed messages, you can always hide them from the arrow menu at the top right corner of the card or message.

Recently, Facebook is making a lot of changes to its suite of apps including Messenger and Instagram. Facebook Messenger received the new camera app with Snapchat-like filters and a new design, whereas Instagram has been in a process of overhaul, which has brought features from its rival Snapchat like live video, disappearing messages, stickers for stories and more. Facebook also recently introduced the group video calling feature on its iOS and Android apps.
