The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed app-based cab service providers, including Ola and Uber, to provide details including registration numbers of all the vehicles registered with each of them and their plan of phasing out diesel taxis.

Justice Manmohan asked Ola and Uber to provide information how they were going to phase out their diesel-based cabs as only Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cabs would be allowed to run in Delhi. The court asked them to provide the details in sealed cover.

The court had allowed Ola and Uber to run only CNG taxis after the companies promised that diesel-based taxis will be taken off Delhi's roads.

Hearing a contempt plea of the Association of Radio Taxis which claimed Ola and Uber's cabs were still plying on city roads despite a single judge's July 29 order as well as an August 11 decision by a division bench upholding the ban, the court asked the central and city government to also explore the possibility of setting up a committee headed by senior officials to work out a plan to ensure that only CNG cabs run in the national capital region (NCR) to address vehicular pollution problem.

The central and Delhi government counsels told the court that they would seek instructions on this issue apprise the court by December 15.
