CheapCharts Can Now Help You Save Money on iPhone and iPad Apps

CheapCharts is a great app for you to keep track of deals on the iTunes Store. We have written about it earlier, as a way to find deals on songs, films, and TV shows. CheapCharts now shows you price drops on iPhone and iPad apps too, making it the best way to find deals across the entire Apple ecosystem.

Once you install CheapCharts on your iOS device, tap the three horizontal lines on the top-left. Now tap Settings at the bottom of the screen > Preferences > Your iTunes Store. Select USA. This step is needed because if you select the Indian store, app deals don't show up in the app. Fortunately, we've seen that most app deals available in the US App Store are also available in India, so this is not a problem.

To access app deals, tap the three horizontal lines on the top-left and tap the music icon to the left of CheapCharts. Now, select Apps. If you've already used the app for finding deals on music, then you will have no trouble finding app deals using CheapCharts.

It has filters that let you find apps with the biggest price drops, search for apps priced $0.99 (Rs. 60 on the Indian App Store, or sometimes even Rs. 10 depending on the developer), find paid apps that are currently free, and even sort by apps that have received a price drop recently. The best feature, however, is that CheapCharts allows you to search for individual apps and set an alert for that app. Then, CheapCharts will send you a notification if and when the price drops for the app you selected.

If you just want price drop alerts on iOS games or if you didn't like CheapCharts for any reason, then we've got some other methods by which you can find discounts on iOS apps and games as well.

AppShopper
There are plenty of websites that show the best deals for iOS and Mac users, but AppShopper is our favourite. Its search is easy to customise, and it lets you find apps by category. You can choose between iOS and Mac, or iPad only, iPhone only and Universal apps. You also have the option of searching for discounts and apps that have gone free, through simple toggles along the top bar.

TouchArcade
TouchArcade is a game focused site where you'll get reviews and in-depth forum discussions about iOS games. It's a great way to also figure out what you should be downloading. The site also has a very useful app that lets you track sales on games, and we recommend this if you're only interested in iOS games.

IFTTT
IFTTT, short for If This Then That, is a great service that lets you automate several tasks. It has a channel called AppZapp, which lets you track app deals for top-rated apps. Here's how to set it up.
