Samsung India has reduced the prices of its two Android Galaxy Tab 2 tablets. The Galaxy Tab 2 310 launched for Rs. 23,250 in May last year has been slashed to Rs. 16,250 while the Galaxy Tab 2 311 that recently went on sale for Rs. 13,900 has been cut down to Rs. 12,750.

As always, some retailers are selling these devices at a discount, so you may spot even lower prices online.

Both these tablets come with a 7-inch (1024×600) PLS TFT LCD display, a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, 3-megapixel fixed focus rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 4,000mAh battery. The Tab 2 310 comes in 8/16/32GB storage options while the Tab 2 311 has 16GB of internal storage expandable upto 32GB via microSD.

The Galaxy Tab 2 311 comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) straight out of the box. The Galaxy Tab 2 310 (Review I Pictures), which has Android 4.0 pre-installed, is upgradable to Android 4.1 through a software update. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, 3G (HSPA+ 21Mbps), USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0. The Tab 2 311 is a Wi-Fi only variant with other connectivity options like Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 and GPRS.

Both tablets come pre-loaded with educational content as well as the company's Readers Hub, Game Hub, and My Movies services, which offer a variety of content to the consumers from e-books, games and full-length movies.

The Korean manufacturer offers a range of tablets including the 8.9-inch and the 10.1-inch screen sizes. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 800 both sport 10.1-inch screens and are available for an official price of Rs. 26,590 and Rs. 35,190 respectively.  

The company has already announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 at the Mobile World Congress to rival Apple's iPad Mini. It comes with an 8-inch WXGA (1280x800) display, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16/32GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB (microSD card), 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, Android 4.1.2 and a 4,000mAh battery.

This year, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Tab 3 lineup. According to previous reports, Samsung is working on an Android-based Galaxy Tab 3 Plus or P8200, which is a high-end tablet that is expected to come in 16 and 32GB variants. Additionally, a second generation Galaxy Note 10.1 codenamed Vienna may also be in the works.

The next generation Galaxy tablets will include the 8-inch, 10.1-inch and the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus versions that will be launched in separate Wi-Fi and LTE variants as well.
