iBall has launched a new tablet in the Indian market dubbed iBall Edu-Slide i-1017. As per the company this tablet has been made specially keeping in mind the needs of students.

iBall Edu-Slide i-1017 features a 10.1-inch screen that comes with a resolution of 1280X800.  It packs in a dual-core Cortex A9 processor that clocks speed of 1.5GHz along with G400 mali graphic processor. Internally, the tablet comes with 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system. There is 8GB of internal storage available on the device, which can be expanded via microSD card.

For camera, there is 2-megapixel rear shooter and a VGA front camera. It will be available for Rs. 12,999.

As the tablet is designed for students, it comes pre-loaded with educational software content by eTeach.  It comprises of education material from Standard I to XII for both CBSE and SSC (Maharashtra) in English medium. The tablet also offers Marathi medium content of SSC students from standards V to X.

However, the consumer can buy only one standard course material for free. As an introductory offer, consumers buying the tablet before buying before 15th of April 2013 will be able to download an additional standard content.

Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Parasrampuria said, "We're entering with a motive to complement our education system, not replace it. There is a dearth of quality content in this sector and with increasing number of tablet users, now's a great time to present iBall Edu-Slide powered by eTeach. Our goal is to make optimum utilisation of the technology enhancements and create an environment where education is made easy and interesting."

It is noteworthy, that Micromax with its Funbook and Datawind (of Aakash fame) too had tried to make a mark in the educational tablet segment and now iBall is trying to get into this space.
