Users are reporting that HTC's latest batch of Google Nexus 9 tablets contain fixes to problems reported by early adopters, featuring side buttons (power and volume) with better tactile feedback, and a display with less light bleed, as compared to models that were being shipped initially.

According to a Reddit user named Sebianoti, the initial Google Nexus 9 model received was a "faulty one with extreme light bleed and buttons that are almost impossible to press." However, the replacement model that reportedly was shipped to the user had more responsive buttons that could be easily clicked. The display's light bleed was reportedly still an issue, but slightly better than the older Nexus 9 tablet.

"This may be the first Nexus 9 in white that has the buttons fixed, at least that's what HTC's AVP told me. Light bleed is still present however it's nowhere near as bad as before," the user posted on November 25 on Reddit (via Android Police). In addition, the user stated that the back panel flexing problem was also resolved in the new Google Nexus 9 version.

To recall, a similar hardware issue was faced by early adopters of the Nexus 5 in December last year, where later models had more flush buttons to avoid noise, a fixed protruding SIM tray, and a larger speaker grill.

The Reddit user, Sebianoti, also stated that these types of issues are nothing new with HTC. "HTC has these problems at launch, I remember the buttons on my HTC One (M7), they weren't awful but when I got my hands on a unit manufactured 7 months after launch it was a lot better."

As of now, there is no word from Google or HTC on the reworked Nexus 9 tablets, and any plans for changing the first batch of Nexus 9 with the new ones.
