Review: King of Fighters XII
Karan Patheja, November 27, 2009, New Delhi
It's back to old arcade style one-to-one street fighting. I know, I'm always accused of having this thing about violent games, but can you really blame someone loving the adrenaline rush one gets by beating the pulp out of the enemy.

The latest installment in the series, The King of Fighters XII uses newly-drawn 2D characters battling it out on 2D backgrounds.

While the game does not have a storyline, the gameplay consists of all 20 characters battling it out in best of five rounds, in a 3-on-3 team system, to become King Fighters team. As there are no officialy predicided teams, players can create any team to their own liking.

The game also introduces new game mechanics like "critical counter" that allow players to counter attack opponents' combos.

While the jury is still out on the comparision with the other fighting games like Street Fighter IV.

The game definitely boasts of one of the best graphics displays for a 2D game, with attention to detail even to the different fighting locales.
