A third person perspective game, The Rise of Cobra starts from where the live action film leaves, with Cobra unleashing its deadliest plot to date.
With the main aim to counter Cobra team's every move, you select the best-suited GI Joe characters along with their accompanying gear and skillset to face the dark forces of Cobra.
The game spans over the course of 20 levels with four different environments including the snowy Arctic and balmy jungles.
Players can handpick members to make a GI Joe squad as choosing character becomes a pivotal strategic decision when facing the enemy which is soulless and powerful.
The Rise of Cobra has one of the simplest gameplays, as the simple run and gun game, does not even require any camera control.
You shoot at anything with a health bar, and take cover when necessary to let your health bar recover.
But while it's easy, the gameplay is also tedious, repetitive, lacks depth and for a game that is officially licensed, it has really uninspiring graphics, camera and storytelling.
While the game does have some uplifting moments and takes you back to the age of Contra, it's real attraction is only for die hard GI Joe fans and people looking for newer games on Playstation 2, as game is also available PS2 format.
