Instagram has added three new filters for both Android and iOS-based apps, after adding two editing tools earlier this month. The firm has also added emoji support for hashtags as a part of the latest update.
The three new filters added are named Lark, Reyes and Juno. While Lark de-saturates the red colour and increases the brightness of the landscape images, the Reyes filter gives a vintage look to an image. The Juno filter tints cool tones green "while making warm tones pop and whites glow for vibrant photos of people," says the Instagram blog post.
Users in the update can now also use emojis as hashtags. "With emoji hashtags, you can discover even more by adding them to your own photos and videos, searching them on the Explore page and tapping on them when you see them in captions," says the blog.
The updated apps for iOS and Android are available to download as version 6.11.0 and 6.20.0 respectively from the App Store and Google Play.
Instagram had added five filters back in December, namely Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua. The firm also changed the image preview system in the app and gave a 'Manage' button at the end of the filter tray to keep them better organised.
The photo-editing and sharing service last month released a stand-alone application called Layout from Instagram, which makes it easy to create collages of iPhone pictures. The app can automatically find pictures containing faces, and features the option to share collages to Facebook as well as at Instagram. As of now, Layout from Instagram app is only available for iPhone users. During the launch, company promised that a version of the app for Android users will be made available in the coming months.
