Samsung Galaxy S5 Beats iPhone 6 in Consumer Satisfaction Survey

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been rated as the best smartphone in a recent customer satisfaction report for the US in 2014, beating the iPhone 6.

According to rankings by Consumer Reports, which will be published in its February 2015 issuem the three different versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Review | Pictures) have topped the customer satisfaction report list beating Apple's latest flagships - the iPhone 6 (Review | Pictures) and iPhone 6 Plus (Review | Pictures).

Consumer Reports (via PhoneArena) found the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 Active shared the top spot with a score of 79, whereas the Galaxy S5 Sport scored 78, probably because of its slightly lower rating for battery life. The LG G3 shared the second spot, with the same score as the Galaxy S5 Sport.

On the other hand, the iPhone 6 received a score of 77, taking to the 3rd spot, and the iPhone 6 Plus scored 73, which positioned it the 15th device in consumers satisfaction.

Samsung dominance can be seen elsewhere, as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Alpha were next in line, sharing score of 77 with the iPhone 6. The HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge each scored a 75. The popular second-generation Motorola Moto X scored 72 and got 20th ranking. The highest rated BlackBerry phone was Z10 with a 67 score giving it a 37th ranking, spot, while the top-rated Windows Phone handset was the Samsung ATIV SE with a 73 score putting it on the 19th spot.

In the meanwhile, based on the feedback from around 70,000 US consumers, the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) (via Engadget) rated Samsung's overall satisfaction rating points in mobile-computing category as 81 out of a possible 100, which is five points up from last year and two points ahead of Apple, which has also slipped two points from the last year.

Next on the ASCI list were carrier branded smartphones, with a rating of 78, followed by Nokia, Motorola, HTC, BlackBerry, LG, and all others, with Kyocera rounding up the top 10.
