Rovio as promised on Thursday released Angry Birds Transformers for Android. The new Angry Birds game is now available for download via Google Play, and is about 129MB in size.

Earlier this month, Angry Birds Transformers was made available by Rovio for iOS. Angry Birds Transformers features a running battle between the Autobirds (inspired by the Transformer's Autobots) and the Deceptihogs (Decepticons).

Initially announced in June, the new side-scrolling mobile game is very different from previous Angry Birds games, and features the popular Angry Bird characters running and using a range of different weapons hitting targets in the background including the pigs, buildings and more.

Talking about characters, the main Red Angry Bird is seen enacting the role of Optimus Prime, while the Yellow Bird (Chuck), Hal, Bubbles, Terrence take the role of Bumblebee, Grimlock, Jazz and Heatwave. Also, the Corporal Pig, Foreman Pig, King Pig, Chef Pig will feature as Galvatron, Lockdown, Megatron, and Soundwave/Starscream. Each character has its own special skill, as seen on the dedicated website.

The Angry Birds Transformers for Android is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 and higher. The game also comes with in-app purchases.

Last month, Rovio released Angry Birds Stella globally. Available on Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, BlackBerry 10 OS and Nook platforms, the game app is a female-focused spinoff of the popular Angry Birds game. In the game, Stella and friends try to save Golden Island from the villain, Gale, and the famous green piggies.

Earlier this month, Rovio announced it would be cutting up to 130 jobs in Finland, or 16 percent of its workforce, saying that growth was as strong as expected and it needs a simpler structure.
