Buying a phone on a budget doesn't mean having to settle for an older version of Android anymore. In the last month or so, we've seen a number of new handsets being released that run on the latest version of Android, KitKat, but still come in at a very reasonable price. Here are ten budget handsets you can buy right now, that run Android 4.4 KitKat, and cost Rs. 4,444 or less.

1. Sunstrike Rage Swift (Rs. 2,999)
Priced at Rs. 2,999, the Sunstrike Rage Swift is possibly the cheapest option if you want an Android KitKat phone right now. It is a basic entry-level phone, with dual-SIM support.

2. Karbonn A5 Turbo (Rs. 3,040)
The Karbonn A5 Turbo lacks a front camera, and the screen is small and relatively low-resolution, but for the price it looks like a reasonable deal. The phone was launched at Rs. 3,290.

3. Celkon Campus A35K (Rs. 3,299)
One of cheapest Android KitKat smartphones available right now, the Celkon Campus A35K launched in June at a relatively low price for the specifications you get.

4. Lava Iris 310 (Rs. 3,249)
Available at Rs. 3,249, Lava Iris 310 comes with dual-SIM support, and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, along with 2GB of internal storage. With microSD card support and also a front camera, this looks like a decent entry-level option.

5. Karbonn A1+ Super (Rs. 3,490)
Launched at Rs. 3,490, the Karbonn A1+ Super comes with a 1.3GHz processor and a 3MP rear camera.

6. Spice Smart Flo Mi-359 (Rs. 3,599)
Launched earlier this month at Rs. 3,599, but available online for around 500 rupees cheaper, the Spice Smart Flo Mi-359 is a pretty good option if you want an Android 4.4 phone. However, the lack of 3G could be a deal-breaker for some.

7. Micromax Bolt A065 (Rs. 3,799)
TheMicromax Bolt A065 is the most-affordable Android 4.4 KitKat offering by the biggest domestic manufacturer. The phone, with a 480p display and 512MB RAM, compares favourably with most in this list as far as specifications are concerned.

8. Celkon Campus Mini A350 (Rs. 3,799)
The newly launched Celkon Campus Mini A350 is a dual-SIM smartphone with a 3.5-inch display, and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, alongside 256MB of RAM. The phone also has Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and 3G support.

9. Maxx Mobile AXD21 MSD7 Smarty (Rs. 4,020)
The Maxx Mobile AXD21 MSD7 Smarty comes with 4GB of storage, and has 512MB of RAM, which should lead to smoother performance than other phones in this price range. The phone was launched at Rs. 4,020.

10. Karbonn Smart A12 Star (Rs. 4,099)
Launched at Rs. 4,099, the Karbonn Smart A12 is slightly better than the competition in terms of specifications, with a 5-megapixel camera helping it stand out from the crowd.
