Google stops Galaxy Nexus sales as injunction comes into effect

In the wake of US Judge Koh's denial to stay the Galaxy Nexus injunction, the smartphone is no longer being sold on Google Play Store in the United States. It is now listed as "coming soon" and consumers can give their email address to get notified when it starts selling again.

On the other hand, Google has told The Verge in a statement that it plans to release an over-the-air update, which will dumb down the unified search functionality, which is the point of contention, from Quick search bar and Voice Search. After the update consumers will only be able to search the web using these features and will not get local results.

Samsung plans to appeal against the ruling.

Last week, Apple got a pre-trial injunction against the sale of Galaxy Nexus, thus effectively getting a ban on the sale of the Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone in the United States.
