ZTE recently launched the
Nubia Z5 but that isn't keeping the Chinese phone maker from working on another bigger device rumoured to sport a massive 6.3-inch display.
Latest rumours out of
GizChina indicate that the ZTE Nubia Z7 is will come with a screen resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Other rumoured-specs include a 8-core 1.4GHz processor, Mali T658 GPU, LTE connectivity and Android 5.0.
The rumours also spill the beans regarding the Nubia Z7 as having a 4000 mAh battery, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and 128GB of internal storage space. On the face of it, the rumours sound too good to be true. It's hard to see how ZTE could price a device with such specs at a reasonable enough point for it to find any takers. For now we'd take them with a pinch of salt. (

A 6.3-inch display is surely big and the device would seem inclined to be more of a tablet than a smartphone. It doesn't sound insane considering Huawei just announced the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate and that 2013 is pretty much being dubbed as the '
Year of the Phablet'. But the question really is how big is too big?
As far as the 8-core processor is concerned, this wouldn't be the first time that the company ihas been associated with such a rumour. Earlier rumours have indicated that the ZTE Apache, which is expected to hit the market this year, will apparently feature an 8-core CPU from MediaTek.
MediaTek is said to have won over both Nvidia and Qualcomm in the running for the said job to bring the yet-to-be-announced ARM15 MT6599 chip which would be manufactured using TSMC's 28nm process. The rumoured specs on the ZTE Apache include a 1080p resolution display, 13-megapixel camera and WCDMA/4G LTE/TD-SCDMA support.
As a specs comparison, the company's current flagship device, the Nubia Z5 comes with Android 4.1.1 and touts impressive hardware. The device sports a 5-inch (1920x1080 pixels) IPS display and features a huge 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing one.
Under the belly, the Nubia Z5 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It comes with a 3000mAh battery. The device boasts NFC, HSPA+ connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.
More recently, ZTE has taken the wraps of its 5-inch smartphone,
ZTE Grand S at the CES 2013. ZTE Grand S is the world's thinnest full-HD smartphone and is only 6.9mm thick.
