Samsung is reportedly going to launch a mini version of its flagship
Galaxy S III smartphone on October 11. Company is sending out
press invites
(and physical ones at that!) for an event in Germany.
The invite shows
a big 'S' in the middle suggesting that it will be a Galaxy S series
smartphone and the tag line "something small will be really big" on the
invite indicates towards Galaxy S III Mini.
The Galaxy S III Mini
first surfaced back in August, when a report indicated its release in Q4
this year. The report also stated that the S III Mini will feature
4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA display, dual-core processor, and a 5MP rear
camera. Other specs and the Android version on-board are still unknown.
The
announcement comes within weeks of Galaxy Note II announcement in
Germany itself. Company has seen great success with its Galaxy series
and the latest numbers from comScore indicated that it has helped the
company stay on top in US smartphone market.
Samsung is also
continuing to stay at the helm of Indian smartphone market, given the
devices launches in almost every segment and Samsung Galaxy series has
become a known sub-brand in the country.
Samsung Galaxy S III
Mini, if real, is likely to be a big hit in markets like India, where
not every can afford the company flagship Galaxy S III.
