Samsung is reportedly working on a 'lite' variant of the mid-range Galaxy Grand Prime launched last year. A German site has published the complete purported details of the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition smartphone alongside claiming European prices of the handset.

According to Winfuture.de (via GSMArena), the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition will be priced at EUR 199 (approximately Rs. 14,300) in European markets. Unfortunately, there is no word on India pricing and launch of the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition smartphone.

The Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition (SM-G531F), much like the Galaxy Grand Prime, features a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display. The smartphone however features a different chipset - it is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Marvell PXA1908 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM.

One of the biggest upgrades in the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition is it runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Galaxy Grand Prime, on the other hand, ran Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. Similar to the Galaxy Grand Prime, the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, while packing a 2600mAh battery.

Samsung, earlier this month, launched the Galaxy S6 Active smartphone and made it exclusively available on AT&T in the US. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, features very similar specifications to the original flagship, but in addition sports an IP68 rating that makes it water resistant (up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes), dust proof, and shock resistant. It also meets the US Mil-STD-810G standard for withstanding vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, and high altitude.
