New rumours suggesting purported specifications of the Nexus 5 have started appearing online. According to the website, AndroidandMe, an anonymous tipster, who claims to work for Google, has sent an image of a device prototype which has been made by LG, and has been codenamed "Megalodon."

The site further claims that the tipster has hinted at an October 2013 release date for the Nexus 5 and that Google is evaluating several prototypes from different handset makers.

The "Megalodon" phone bears the Nexus design albeit with a much curvier base and a thin bezel. The specifications that the anonymous source suggested are really high-end and point to a 5.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera,  2.1-megapixel front shooter supporting full-HD video recording at 30 frames per second, front positioned stereo speakers and a powerful 3300mAh battery. The phone is also rumoured to come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. It's also tipped that it would have front positioned stereo speakers, support for terrestrial television broadcasts with and integrated DVB-T and ATSC antenna and gesture controls. It's noteworthy that the rumour doesn't mention the version of the Android OS that the phone's expected to run.

We'll take this rumour with a grain of salt as there's no way to verify it and companies do build and shortlist several prototype devices before finalising one. Also, this would be contrary to previous rumours that suggested a May release for the next Nexus phone during Google's I/O event.
