Ahead of Micromax's Thursday event, where it is expected to launch the first Cyanogen-based smartphone under its new YU brand, the price of the handset has been tipped in a new leak.

The Indian import/ export site, Zauba, lists the yet-to-be-announced YU handset with model number AO5510.

The Micromax YU AO5510, according to the Zauba listing (via FoneArena), was shipped from China earlier this week, and has a declared value of Rs. 8,301 each. To be noted however is that import/ export website price listings are only declared values, and usually are not accurate reflections of actual market price.

Considering that the Micromax YU smartphone has been rumoured to pack impressive innards along with customisable features from Cyanogen, we can expect some competition in the budget smartphone segment. Some of the preliminary leaks have indicated that Micromax's first YU brand smartphone will feature a custom Cyanogen OS build and will be powered by a 64-bit CPU, though there is no word on an exact chipset. The handset will be launched in India on December 18; however, the market availability has been rumoured to be 2-3 weeks after the announcement.

The popular handset maker on Tuesday announced that its YU Cyanogen OS smartphone will be exclusively available on Amazon India. Additionally, Micromax also launched a dedicated website for its YU smartphone showing a countdown to the launch on Thursday. The domestic handset maker has been promoting its new YU brand extensively on social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

In other news, Micromax gave a huge blow to OnePlus and got the One smartphone sales reportedly halted by Delhi High Court after a plea. For those unaware, Micromax has an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen for the Indian market.
