As reported earlier, LG has officially announced its new flagship Android smartphone Optimus G today. Powered by Qualcomm's new S4 Pro quad-core processor, Optimus G will go on sale in South Korea next month on all telecom operators followed by the global launch.

The Korean manufacturer has also revealed that LG Optimus G will be available in October/November with Japanese telecom operator NTT Docomo.

The smartphone features Android 4.0, 4.7-inch 1280x768 True HD IPS+ display, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera and 2100 mAh battery. LG Optimus G will be sold in red and black colour options.

There is no word on the Jelly Bean update, but we expect LG to push it before the end of this year.

According to the company, it has partnered with LG Chem, LG Display and LG Innotek to develop this smartphone. LG Chem has built an innovative battery with a lifespan of 800 cycles unlike standard batteries that only have 500 cycles lifespan.

Similarly, LG display has helped LG Electronics in developing True HD IPS+ display, which is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness while consuming 70 percent less power compared when displaying a white background. On the other hand, LG Innotek has developed G2 Touch Hybrid display, which eliminates the gap between the glass and the LCD panel thus the thickness of touchscreen panel is reduced by 30 percent.
