The Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has launched its new flagship smartphone Ascend P2 at a Mobile World Congress. This smartphone had been a part of various leaks in the last one month.
Huawei Ascend P2 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor accompanied with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. One can expand the storage on this smartphone via a microSD card slot. The smartphone runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) along with Huawei's own layer of Emotion UI.

It sports a 4.7-inch screen 720p HD and second generation Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Huawei Ascend P2 is just 8.4mm thick. For camera, there is 13-megapixel rear camera that is capable of 1080p video recording and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. The connectivity options include 3G with HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and uses LTE Cat-4 generation networking. Huawei Ascend P2 comes with 2,420mAh battery and supports what Huawei terms as 'quick charging'. With the help of quick charging, the Chinese smartphone maker claims charging time can be reduced by approximately 25 percent.

Some of the earlier rumours had suggested that Huawei Ascend P2 will come with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage (non-expandable), which is obviously not the case. The only major disappointment is that Huawei Ascend P2 comes with 720p screen, whereas companies such as HTC, Sony are all showing off flagships that have 1080p display.

The Huawei Ascend P2 is expected to be available by the second quarter of 2012 for about 400 Euros.
