HTC might announce its next flagship Android device, M7, as early as CES
2013. The HTC M7 was previously leaked as a full-HD smartphone, but not
much is known about its looks and price. According to Twitter user
@Football4PDA, the phone may be showcased at the upcoming CES.
The
phone's screen size is still not confirmed. On one hand, it is said to
be 4.7-inch, while other reports have indicated the HTC M7 may feature a
5-inch display. It won't be a mistake to say that this Android 4.1
device should have a full-HD (S LCD 3) 1920x1080 screen, which is used
on the HTC DROID DNA and Butterfly. The device is expected to be powered
by Qualcomm's quad-core 1.5 GHz S4 Pro chipset and come with 2GB of
RAM.
It has also been rumoured that we might see on-screen
buttons (as seen on the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4) being implemented on
the M7. It is also expected to have a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.0
aperture, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The HTC M7 could pack a
2,300 mAh battery, and capable of Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac, which is
said to be thrice as fast as standard 802.11n.
HTC has not been
in the best of its financial health recently, with the company's sales
headed south for the last one year despite producing devices like the
One X and One S. The company would hope the likes of M7 and the recently
announced HTC Butterfly aka HTC J Butterfly aka HTC DROID DNA will help
in restoring the company to its earlier heights.
