Lenovo India on Tuesday launched the third Moto G4 variant in the country, the Moto G4 Play, joining the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus that were already available. Priced at Rs. 8,999, the Moto G4 Play will be the most affordable of the three smartphones. It went on sale via Amazon India from Tuesday.

To recall, the Moto G4 was launched at Rs. 12,499, while the Moto G4 Plus starts at Rs. 13,499. The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus sport a lot of similarities in innards, though the Moto G4 Play has a lot of differences. If you are thinking of buying the new Moto G4 Play but getting confused with the existing Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, make sure to check the differences between the Moto G4 Play, and Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus.

Display
Both the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus feature a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display and sport a pixel density of 401ppi. The Moto G4 Play, on the other hand, sport a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 294ppi.

Processor
The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, and coupled with an Adreno 405 GPU. The Moto G4 Play is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2GHz and coupled with Adreno 306 GPU.

Memory and storage
In India, the Moto G4 Plus comes in 2GB and 3GB of RAM models, while the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Play come only in a 2GB of RAM model.

The Moto G4 Plus comes in 16GB and 32GB storage models depending on the available memory. The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Play on the other hand come only with 16GB of inbuilt storage. All the three smartphones support expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).

Software
The Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and run near stock Android with slight tweaks. All the three Moto G4 models come with exclusive offer from Google Photos where users can store their photos on the cloud storage for free for two years at original quality.

Camera
In terms of optics, the Moto G4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a dual-LED flash module. The Moto G4 Plus packs a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash module. The Moto G4 Plus bears some advanced camera features such as laser autofocus and phase detection auto-focus (PDAF). The Moto G4 Play sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. All the Moto G4 models sport a 5-megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture and display flash feature.

Battery
Both the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus pack a large 3000mAh battery and come with a TurboPower charger that can offer up to 6 hours of charge in just 15 minutes of charging. The Moto G4 Play packs a slightly smaller 2800mAh battery, and comes bundled with a 10W Rapid Charger that can deliver up to 5 hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charging.

Others
The Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, and Moto G4 Play come with 4G with LTE Cat. 4 support. All the three models come with water-repellent nano-coating which can protect handsets from spills, splashes, and a little rain. It's worth noting that none of the Moto G4 models are water-resistant. Out of the three Moto G4 models, the Moto G4 Plus only sports the fingerprint scanner.
