Mac users who have yet to download the latest macOS Sierra will soon have it done for them. Apple on Monday started automatically downloading the new operating system for users with automatic downloads switched on. Apple plans on initiating automatic download of macOS Sierra over the coming week and will choose the day and time at random starting Tuesday.

While the update package will download on itself, users will still have to manually approve the Mac to initiate the download, according to The Loop. Mac users who are unwilling to shift to the new operating system should make sure that automatic downloads is turned off. You can do this by either cancelling the download while it's in progress or change the settings from the Mac App Store. Apple has also made sure the latest macOS update gets deleted if the host Mac is low on storage space.

The move is similar to when Microsoft rolled out Windows 10. Apple, however, is not being as aggressive with the move as Microsoft was. Both the companies are trying to establish a seamless upgrade, and also want to improve the stats of users taking to the latest operating systems. Apple has already managed to get more than 22 percent of iOS users to upgrade to iOS 10.

Apple has been successful in getting its latest software on devices both new and old soon after it has been launched. This allows app developers to bring in new apps that is supported by the latest OS. This in turn allows users to experience and stay up-to-date with the latest applications and features without having to wait for a long time.

Apple's latest macOS Sierra brings in a bunch of new features including Siri, optimised storage, picture-in-picture feature and a more seamless connectivity between Apple devices, among others. Users will also be able to unlock their Mac with their Apple Watch in close proximity with the latest OS.
