Canon Wednesday announced the launch of a series of printers targeted at professionals looking for in-house photo printing solutions. With the launch of Pixma Pro-1, Pixma Pro-10 and the Pixma Pro-100, Canon hopes to gain a foothold in the professional photo printing market in India.

Pixma Pro-1 is the flagship of the series that uses 12 different coloured ink tanks, including 5 monochrome inks that aim to smoothen gradations and suppress graininess. The Pixma Pro-1 comes with 36 ml ink tanks and a new two-way paper feeder at the rear, including a dedicated feed slot for users to manually feed up to 14" x 17" media and thick paper. It includes an Ethernet port and is capable of printing an A3 bordered full colour photograph in 4 minutes 20 seconds. It has been priced at Rs. 94,860.

Next up is the Pixma Pro-10 which uses a 10-colour ink system and three different monochromatic inks - Photo Black, Matte Black and Grey. According to Canon, this system ensures that the blacks are denser, bronzing is reduced, and glossiness is enhanced. It will be available for Rs. 65,995.

Finally, the Canon Pixma Pro-100 is the cheapest in the series and it ships with an 8-colour dye ink system, including three monochromatic inks - Black, Grey, and Light Grey. It has been priced at Rs. 47,995.

Speaking on this occasion Kazutada Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon India Pvt said, "India is one of the most crucial markets in the APAC region for Canon. With a large number of growing avid photographers, we believe the Pixma Pro series will be an innovative solution for photographers' needs."

Canon has also launched the LU-101 Photo Paper Pro Luster, a new semi-gloss paper that holds colour consistently under display lighting - making it ideal for studio exhibitions and special events.
