It's Navratri time, which means shopping season is about to begin in full earnest. As you would expect, online shopping stores are raining deals. This week we take a look at some of the best festive season sales on major online stores. We've also got some special tips to help you make the most out of these great sales.

As has been a trend recently, there are special deals on iPhone 5s. Other products like Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch and LG's Blu-ray Home Theater System are also up for special prices. Happy shopping season!

1. Amazon Diwali Sale
Amazon India has offered great deals since the beginning. It's probably the only online store that offer a great set of deals, and the execution is brilliant. Amazon's festive season sale is titled "Online Shopping Dhamaka". The company is relying on its Daily Deals, Lightning Deals, and other category specific deals to entice online shoppers.

Over the next couple of weeks, we're expecting some great discounts on smartphones, tablets, laptops, speakers, and more. If you're looking to buy a new phone or a new tablet, we suggest you check out Amazon's Daily and Lightning Deals before you make a decision. We're also expecting more discounts on specific categories in the coming weeks. This is going to be one of the best weeks to buy anything online.

Pro Tip
Amazon's Daily Deals begin at midnight. These normally get revealed right when they're about to start, but as a part of the festive season sale, Amazon now reveals what products are going to be on sale as a part of its Daily Deals well in advance. If there's a great deal, it's likely to get sold out in hours, if not in a few minutes.

Same for Lightning Deals, these run in batches throughout the day. The stock is limited, and so is the time. Almost all products offered on Daily Deals and Lightning Deals are fulfilled by Amazon only.

2. Flipkart's The Big Billion Sale
Flipkart hasn't revealed its festive season sale yet, but the company is planning a massive flash sale. Flipkart's sale is titled "The Big Billion Day" and is scheduled for October 6. Over the next 10 days, the company is going to run an advertising campaign to promote the sale. According to the sale page on Flipkart's site, it sure looks like it's going to be a flash sale, where limited quantities of popular products may be sold at big discounts.

If Flipkart has learnt anything from the Xiaomi smartphone flash sale, it knows flash sales are very difficult to execute. But let's hope the company does a better job this time. We're expecting a large number of tech goodies to go on sale in, of course, very limited quantities, but with a sweet price tag.

Pro tip
If you have something in mind that you're looking to buy, you might want to wait for Flipkart's massive flash sale. As always, the quickest possible way to buy is to use the Flipkart mobile app. But we're not quite sure how easy it would be to browse through the inventory that day. You might want to save your credit card number, or just pick cash on delivery while checking out to save time.

3. Snapdeal's Diwali Sale on Electronics
Snapdeal's Diwali sale is huge. You can get mobile phones, laptops, LED TVs, refrigerators, tablets, and more at an extra Rs. 3,000 off on the listed price on a minimum product value of Rs. 40,000. For products above Rs. 20,000, you can get Rs.1,750 off, and for products above Rs. 10,000 you can get Rs.750 off.

All these discounts are applied automatically when you add a product to your shopping cart. Snapdeal now has a number of exclusive devices like the Jolla smartphone, Karbonn Sparkle V (Android One), Spice Fire One, and other phones which are all a part of the Diwali sale promotion.

Pro tip
Snapdeal now offers next-day delivery to select locations, and from select sellers. Always check seller ratings before you buy anything on Snapdeal. Just like Amazon, Snapdeal now has a SD Fulfilled program under which Snapdeal takes care of the packaging and quick dispatch of products. Sellers who ship quickly are also rated specifically under product listings.

4. eBay Diwali Offers
eBay has also kicked off its Diwali promotions which will run from September 25 to October 23. During this period, the first 250 buyers starting from 12PM and the last 250 buyers ending at 6PM will get up to Rs.1,000 cashback on their transactions. Since transactions on eBay probably run up to thousands per hour, it's going to be a tricky offer to avail.

eBay is also promising an iPhone 6 to the highest spender, every hour, between 12PM to 6PM. Apart from that, eBay is running daily flash sales and deals of the week. These daily flash sales include popular smartphones, LED TVs, digital cameras, and more. Weekly deals include laptops, tablets, and other electronic items.

Pro tip
eBay's flash sales and weekly deals are highly curated, but you might still want to go through seller feedback. More than that, always ensure you check what kind of warranty you're getting while buying on eBay India. Some sellers offer smartphones and tablets at a really low price, but these turn out to be parallel imports that lack official warranty. Most sellers would list these products with "seller warranty". That means if something goes wrong with your device, you have to reach out to the seller for a solution. Avoid seller warranty as much as possible. Also, if you're a Mobikwik user you could pay using your mobile wallet and get 15% off (maximum Rs.1500 discount).

Some great apps that you shouldn't miss out on include Sketchbook Pro, Swype Keyboard, Threes, My Diet Coach Pro, Alarm Clock+, and Schedule Planner Pro.

6. Card specific Deals
What's better than a great discount? A little extra cashback! This week ING Vysya Bank credit, debit, and net banking users can get an extra 10% cashback on all transactions at Amazon India. There's a maximum cashback value of Rs. 1,500 but there's no minimum shopping amount for qualifying for the cashback promotion. Amazon is also offering 10 percent cashback as Amazon gift card to American Express customers on minimum spending of Rs. 15,000. The maximum cashback is Rs. 5,000 per card.

Snapdeal is also offering a 10% cashback, up to a maximum limit of Rs. 1,000 for ING Vysya Bank customers.

EZone is offering Axis Bank card users an extra 5% cashback on orders worth Rs. 15,000 or more. The cashback will be processed within 60 days of placing the order. The offer is valid on both credit and debit cards.

You can use the coupon code "MONITOR5" to get an additional 5% off the listed price. If you're planning to replace your old monitor, or want to add an extra screen to your workstation, you might want to take a look at some of these big-screen computer monitors.

8. LG 5.1 Blu-ray Home Theater System
Snapdeal is selling the LG 5.1 Blu-ray Home Theater System at Rs. 15,555 (automatic discount in cart) this week. It normally retails at around Rs. 20,000 on other online stores. At this price it's definitely worth a buy. The home theater system comes with 5.1 channel speakers, support for FM radio, and a remote control. The sound output is rated at 1200W, and connectivity options include USB, HDMI, and AUX input. You can get the system installed by LG's staff once it gets delivered.

Price: Rs. 15,555 (MRP Rs. 20,990)

9. Apple iPhone 5s 16GB For Rs.29,999 (effective price)
We've seen Apple's iPhone 5s prices falling like never before. This online trend is mainly due to a large competition amongst online stores. While the iPhone 5s is still selling at around Rs. 38,000-44,000 offline, it is now available at as low as Rs. 29,999 (effective price after cashback) on PayTM, and at around Rs. 34,000 on Amazon (with prices fluctuating hourly). It went as low as Rs. 32,500 last week during a flash sale on Amazon. If you're not willing to spend a lot more on the new iPhone 6 this year, this might be your best bet.

Price: Rs. 29,999 (after cashback) (MRP Rs. 53,500)

10. Apple MD101HN/A MacBook Pro 13-inch
Snapdeal is selling the 13-inch MacBook Pro (MD101HN/A) at Rs. 56,980 (automatic discount in cart) this week. The same variant is selling on Amazon for an extra Rs. 1,500. Price: Rs. 56,980 (MRP Rs. 89,900)
