The 89th Academy Awards, colloquially known as the Oscars, took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles. Barry Jenkins' Moonlight took home the biggest prize for Best Picture, after a faux pas that momentarily gave La La Land the top award.

La La Land won the most number of awards though, with six Oscars out of its 14 nominations, including Best Director for Damien Chazelle, and Best Actress for Emma Stone. The neo-musical was part of a dramatic cue-card mix-up towards the end, while the rest of the ceremony went on more or less routine.
