Mozilla has launched the latest iteration of its Firefox browser, bringing it to version number 37 for both desktop (Windows, OS X, and Linux) and Android platforms.

Firefox 37 introduces some tweaks in the URL bar, adds new locales, and improves download performance and more, as per Firefox's release notes for desktop and mobile.

As for the desktop platform, the Firefox 37 browser version now sets Yandex as the default search engine for the Turkish locale, while Bing search will now be using HTTPS for secure searching. Fake and fraud websites are also better handled by the browser's new OneCRL centralised certificate revocation. The company has also added a new Heartbeat (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Advocacy/heartbeat) user rating system for users to provide feedback about Firefox.

Firefox 37 also brings changes in TLS version, fixes SSL errors, TLS False Start Optimisation and improved WebGL rendering on Windows platform, details of which can be viewed here. Several changes on the HTML and developer's side have also been made.

As for the Android version of Firefox 37, the browser now introduces six new locales namely Albanian [sq], Burmese [my], Lower Sorbian [dsb], Songhai [son], Upper Sorbian [hsb], Uzbek [uz]. The browser version also improves download performance with new download manager back-end.

Firefox for Android's URL bar now shows page address instead of page title by default. The Android home screen shortcut now opens existing tab instead of a new tab in Firefox 37 for mobile. Other changes made in the browser's mobile version are more or less similar with the changes made for desktop versions.

It is worth mentioning that Mozilla, in its previous Firefox 36 release, introduced HTTP/2 support, pinned tile syncing and more.
