Reliance Jio Phone subsidised by as much as 40 percent
Reliance has started shipping its low-cost Jio Phone to Indian buyers, and it has now emerged that the company might have achieved its incredibly low Rs. 1,500 price tag by subsidising each unit by as much as 40 percent. According to Reuters' sources, it would cost at least Rs. 2,500 to build such a device. Reliance is charging customers Rs. 1,500 but is calling it a security deposit and will refund the entire amount if buyers return the device after three years. It is estimated that Jio will be shouldering a burden of $150 million for every 10 million Jio Phone units sold. The Jio Phone was designed to help hundreds of millions of low-income Indians access voice and data services, and Reliance is looking to boost its customer base ot 250-300 million over the next two years.

Arunachal Pradesh, J&K cities seemingly excluded from iOS Weather and Maps apps
The iOS Weather and Maps apps appear to be unable to display cities in Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir in search results, although they do appear marked on maps. Interestingly, questions to Apple's voice assistant Siri appear to be answered as expected. Weather.com, which provides data for the iOS Weather app, delivers search results for these cities. The issue is likely a bug. Both Indian states have borders that are disputed by neighbouring countries, and the matter of their territory is politically sensitive.

Apple has also just ditched Microsoft's Bing search engine for Google as the default search provider for Siri and Spotlight in iOS and macOS. This will bring them in line with the Safari browser, which already uses Google by default. However, image search in Siri will remain powered by Bing for now, according to both companies.

The information was discovered in a listing on a Chinese certification website. However, there might be some room for error as the same website has an apparently incorrect figure for the iPhone 8 Plus battery.

Samsung has previously stated that it intends to develop a foldable Galaxy Note device, but nothing is known for certain about branding or availability. There are no leaks or renders yet, but more details could be revealed soon if the device is submitted to the US FCC for certificaton.
